Added 29/03/10: (Of particular importance to drivers in Ireland and Northern Ireland): There are still a few drivers who haven’t licenced yet and if they intend to race over the Easter weekend, we must receive their applications in time. They should not be allowed on track as they are not insured without a licence. Also, licenced drivers object to racing alongside non-licenced drivers.
If the track promoter allows them to race, the NHRPA hold no responsibility. They will not be allocated a grid position or receive any points.
Licences are only available from the NHRPA, not from any individual promoters.
Added 05/03/10: Reminder to all drivers that at the first WQ rounds for each region this year (2010), only one new slick tyre is permitted. Drivers are only allowed four new slicks at the beginning of the season, i.e. Round 1, not at Round 9 (England/NI) or Round 11 (ROI).
Added 11/08/08 NATIONAL HOT ROD 2008/2009 DRIVER INFORMATION/RULE AMENDMENTS
DROPPED SCORES: This system will continue during the 2008/2009 season. (One meeting will be dropped) PENALTY POINTS: The experimental penalty points system (no penalty points for a black cross/no right to protest it), will be adopted permanently. TYRES: The 1 new tyre per meeting rule will continue. LINING UP FOR RACES: When asked to line up for races, you must do so immediately and be at the pit gate when it opens. The pit gate will be closed as soon as the waiting cars are on track. If you are not in the line-up you will miss your race and may not change to another heat. FINALS: If the large entries of cars continues, the final race will be limited to the following numbers: Ipswich - 32 cars, Birmingham - 26 cars, Hednesford - 32 cars, Northampton - 30 cars, Skegness - 30 cars. You will have to qualify in the heats to make the final grid. NEW ORCi RULE (Effective immediately) Any driver who takes legal action against either the ORCi, or any of it's sub committees (including the NHRPA), or a fellow competitor or a member of their team, will be suspended from racing until the case is resolved. TRANSPONDER POSITION: By 1st September 2008, transponders must be positioned 1.8 metres from the furthest forward point of the car. We would remind you of the importance of giving the transponder a "clear field of view" of the loop, and that this means there should be a hole of at least 15 cms. beneath the transponder, which must be mounted as close to flush with the floor-pan as possible. WARM-UP LAPS: There will be no warm-up laps before a race, unless the steward/NHRPA deem it necessary. CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING FINALS: All drivers must race in the meeting final, including Spedeweekend, if mechanically able. The spectators have paid to see you race. Failure to meet this criteria will result in loss of prize/travel/start money from the meeting and a ban from the next WQ meeting. 2009 WORLD QUALIFYING AND WORLD FINAL The 2009 World qualifying series and World Final will be run as follows:
- The World Qualifying meeting grids will be based on averages, as usual, and the points system will remain unchanged.
- The World Final grid will consist of 18 English, 6 N. Irish, 6 S. Irish and 2 or 3 invited drivers from outside of the UK/ROI.
- The top drivers of each points chart at the end of the season, will be the English/Irish, champions and receive the usual prize money.
- Lap times at the Spedeweekend will be 'hot laps' again. (3 laps each, one driver on track). There will be a draw amongst all qualifiers to decide the order of who goes on track when. The track conditions for your hot laps will be the luck of the draw and if they change, your times will still stand.
- These lap times will determine your group grid position, and where the non-English qualifiers slot into the groups, as usual. Pole position will go to the driver who puts in the fastest lap time, regardless of which group he is in. All drivers will thus have the chance to be in pole position.
