For 2024 there will be an exciting new edge to qualification for the National Hot Rods World Championship, with the introduction of the Superpole Top 12 run off!
On Saturday morning all the drivers will complete their three Hot Laps as normal against the clock. Grid position 13 to the rear will then be locked in place for Sunday’s big race.
The Top 12 will then return to the track on Saturday evening after the comfort break for Superpole, where they will each run three more laps to determine the 2024 World Final starting order for the front six rows of the grid. The times from the morning will be cleared – where a driver starts within that top 12 will all depend on their time in the Superpole session.
The order for the Superpole Top 12 run off will be randomly drawn directly after the morning runs, and shown live on Spedeworth TV.
The World Final grid of 34 cars will this year be made up of 17 cars from World Series England, 10 cars from World Series Northern Ireland, 3 cars from World Series Scotland, 2 cars from World Series Republic of Ireland and 1 from Holland. Joining these cars will be the Wildcard Final winner from the Saturday night support racing at Spedeweekend.
Once again for 2024 the winner of the World Final will receive the opportunity to race in South Africa in August, as well as – of course – adding their name to the illustrious Roll of Honour in the pinnacle of non-contact oval racing.
The World Championship takes place during the annual Spedeweekend over the weekend of July 6th/7th at Foxhall Heath Stadium, Ipswich.
